PFP at International Convention 2022 in Houston, Texas, USA

Do you have time to help PFP in Houston?

 

Are you headed to Houston, Texas for the Rotary International Convention? This is a great chance to get involved in Partnering for Peace (PFP).

  1. An opportunity to share about PFP at the Peace Corps booth
  2. Breakout sessions that will be part of the RI Presidential Peace Conference and the Rotaract Pre-Convention Conference. And there will be a Special PFP Briefing, and Happy Hour too, please review all activities below.
     

Help in the Peace Corps Booth in the House of Friendship

No experience is required, and orientation will be provided. You will share with booth visitors about the Rotary/Peace Corps Partnership, Partnering for Peace, and how the partnership can help Rotary clubs to do more effective, sustainable projects and programs whether abroad or in their local communities.

We are asking for three-hour shifts but are open to accommodating your schedule. Here are the options:

Daily: Saturday, June 4th (when the House of Friendship opens) through Tuesday, June 7th:

9 a.m. – 12 noon (this shift will help the Peace Corps staff with set-up and setting out materials)

12 noon – 3 p.m.

3 p.m. – 6 p.m. (this shift will help PC staff to cover up and close the booth for the day)

June 8th, Wednesday:

9 a.m. – 12 noon (this shift will help PC staff to also take down the booth)

Breakout sessions during the Convention:

Rotaract Pre-Convention Conference Breakout Sessions:

When: June 3, Friday - 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.

Where: George Brown Convention Center but see the directory listing at the Convention for the room

Speakers/Facilitators: Shannon Carter and Terrance Stevenson, Rotary Peace Fellows and PFP Members

Rotary Presidential Conference Houston: Serve to Bring Peace Breakout Session

When: June 4, Saturday - 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Where: George Brown Convention Center but see the directory listing at the Convention for the room

Speakers/ Facilitators: Peace Corps Senior Staff, Kim Dixon, President of PFP, Charlie Hunt, Vice President of PFP, and other PFP members who will share specific ways Rotary clubs, Peace Corps Volunteers, and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers can work together to promote peace locally and globally.

Partnering for Peace Special Breakout Session

How Rotary Clubs and Peace Corps volunteers and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers Can Work Together to Better Serve People Around the World

When: June 6th, Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Where: Marriott Marquis Hotel, 1777 Walker St, Houston, TX 77010, Fort Bend Room.

Speakers/Facilitators: Kim Dixon, RI PFP Liaison Carrie Golden, PC PFP Liaison Ted Adams, and PFP Members giving insight into successful ways to do projects, promote peace activities, build membership, and many other practical tips.

Happy Hour/Social Time

Join all PFP Members and Rotarians and RPCVs Wanting to Learn More about the Partnership and anyone who simply wants to meet other PFP members.

When: June 6th, Monday from 5 – 7 p.m.

Where: Rodeo Goat Restaurant on the Upper Deck, 2105 Dallas St, Houston, TX 77003 (a short walk from the Marriott Marquis Hotel where the special breakout session will be held).

What: Appetizers will be provided, but everyone will be responsible for their own beverages.
