A Call for Partnership: The Dominican Republic Rotary Club-Peace Corps Literacy Project
The Cantonment Rotary Club in Pensacola, FL (District 6940) is sponsoring a Rotary-Peace Corps literacy project in the Dominican Republic. Donations are actively being sought to expand the reach of this project.
Rotarians will ship a pallet of Spanish language books to the Dominican Republic's Peace Corps headquarters in Santo Domingo. Peace Corps staff and volunteers will then deliver and present the books to school libraries where Peace Corps Volunteers are active in the childhood literacy program.
This project builds on a related literacy project sponsored by the Casa Grande Rotary Club (District 5500) where P4P Board Treasurer, Ross Feezer, is active. The Casa Grande Rotary-Peace Corps literacy project previously provided libraries for 65 schools in communities served by Peace Corps Volunteers.
