Dear Partnering for Peace Members,
What a spring we have had! PCVs are back in over 50 countries now. Applications are coming in strong and many are from Rotary connections. Rotary-Peace Corps joint projects continue to grow. And at PFP we are working to better organize of our events, news, flyers, and project documentation. Let me bring you a few updates!
Partnering for Peace: Friends of Peace Corps and Rotary will have a booth at the Rotary International Convention’s House of Friendship. The booth is adjacent to the Peace Pavilion which is a new feature at this year’s House of Friendship. All peace-related organizations, like PFP, will be around the Peace Pavilion, where short presentations, videos, and networking will take place for all Rotarians attending. PFP will be able to share success stories, and discuss ways that PFP and its members can be a resource to anyone looking for collaboration and help with their peace projects. If you are going to the Convention and willing to help in the booth, or if you want more information about the booth or PFP, please contact Steve Werner at steve@stevewernerconsulting.com or What’s App number (303) 809-8986.
And speaking of conventions… a year ago I was at the Rotary International Convention in Houston. We confirmed that we in the US could initiate Disaster Response Grants for Ukrainian refugees during this ongoing war– something Rotarians and RPCVs were attempting. Rotary members and RPCVs across the world are joining forces to support Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees as the war continues. Partnering for Peace members have often helped make connections between the two groups to support each group’s strengths. They help through clothing and supply drives, club and Rotary Foundations grants, awareness campaigns, and making it personal for so many that know and love Ukraine. Here is a personal article about the good works a Peace Corps RPCV and Rotarians can do… together, this time in the Bakhmut region.
And… speaking of conferences, we are inspired by our member’s activities. RPCV groups are reaching out to Rotary clubs to meet up. Rotary District Conferences around the US are having PFP booths to celebrate the partnership. If you need any material to pass out, check out the resources on the right hand bar of our homepage: www.partneringforpeace.org.
Finally, we are asking the Rotary District Leadership throughout the US to reach out to their clubs to identify anyone with connections to a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, welcoming them to come back to visit – to tell their story – and to reengage with the Rotary-Peace Corps Community. If you know of any PC community persons that aren’t members of PFP, please ask them to JOIN or simply fill out this FORM, and we will contact them to explain more of the opportunities poised by the partnership. Let’s keep connecting!
Respectfully submitted,
Kim Dixon, President
